About our CEO - Roark Thompson
Ever since I was a little boy watching the tractors go across the fields, I knew I wanted to be involved in farming. I grew up on a 2,000 acre farm and while farming was always my main focus, I always seemed to have a deep understanding of technology. Like several great inventors, I took things apart as a kid but unlike them, I struggled to put any of it back together. At-least, until someone handed me a broken Nextel phone. I was able to take it apart, see what I thought was wrong, and solder two connections. When I put it back together (to my surprise) it worked. I was 14 and someone handed me $50 for 15 minutes of work. From that point, my love for technology only grew. Over the next 20 years, we grew from a 2,000 acre farm to a 12,000 acre farm. As we grew in size, so did our technology needs. As I managed that technology, I could see a need that most farmers weren’t getting. Technology in agriculture is really expensive and complicated. Unfortunately, it typically only works with one brand or platform. I knew I could build something better and cheaper that worked with everything. I still remain very involved with my family farm to this day, but my passion is bridging the generational gap; and showing agriculture how advanced and simple technology can be when it is built right from the start.

If technology is supposed to help us, why can it be so hard to use?
PIPE AG believes in doing things differently. Technology can be easy. While we work almost exclusively in harvest, we are not making yield maps. Instead, we are paving the way for operations to be more productive, and ultimately profitable. From integrated record keeping, to color-blind compatibility. All while being hands-on and service focused to build things such as compaction maps for grain carts. We believe technology doesn’t have to have generation skips, or leave anyone out.
what we do
We begin with an iPad in every machine that is used for harvest. We then tie our sensors into each machine reporting data to its specific iPad instantly. This information is uploaded to the cloud, processed, and sent back to every machine. When the app is open, operators will see satellite imagery of where they are, and where everyone else is in real time; along with their machine data. An example would be the grain cart seeing each combine level in 1% increments or an ETA of when the truck will be back. When in the combine or chopper, the operator can see how full the cart is and also every load that has been dumped and the load ticket information. All of this information is available to everyone in the operation. This allows every employee to make educated decisions throughout the day. This all adds up to increased efficiency throughout the entire operation.
